Curry Kenjin
As Japan's leading cutlery manufacturer, we set out to design the ultimate spoon—one that brings out the full, savory flavor of curry on rice and redefines the joy of this beloved Japanese staple.
By immersing ourselves in curry specialty shops, listening to passionate owners, and gathering insights from countless enthusiasts, we developed the perfect utensil for curry lovers—“Curry Kenjin.”
The Curry Kenjin collection offers three unique variations: CARRY, SAKU, and HIDARY, each designed to enhance your curry dining experience in its own way.
CARRY
CARRY is crafted to achieve the perfect balance of curry roux, ingredients, and rice—what we call the “Curry Rice Golden Ratio.” Its well-polished edges ensure a smooth, gentle touch, leaving only the delicious taste of curry behind.
SAKU
An asymmetrical spoon with a curved edge, "Saku" features a unique design with an upward slope on the right side. The edge gently rises from left to right, creating a rightward incline that ends in a flat scraper for cutting larger ingredients. This minimizes splattering when dividing large pieces of curry toppings and is specifically designed for right-hand use.
HIDARY
An asymmetrical spoon with a curved edge, "Hidary" features a unique design with an upward slope on the left side. The edge gently rises from right to left, creating a leftward incline that ends in a flat scraper for cutting larger ingredients. This minimizes splattering when dividing large pieces of curry toppings and is specifically designed for left-hand use.
Polished to Perfection
Curry spoons touch the palate more often than other spoons, making comfort essential. With meticulous polishing and special attention to the edges, our design ensures a smooth, Gentle Spoon Release, preserving the full flavor and texture of curry for an effortless dining experience.
Spatula-Tipped Head
The standout feature of SAKU and HIDARY is its spatula-like tip, designed to prevent messy splashes and effortlessly cut through ingredients. With its curved, asymmetrical bowl, it smoothly guides sauce into your mouth, enhancing ease and enjoyment with every bite.
Behind the Creation
Developing the “Curry Kenjin” spoon was an exceptionally challenging endeavor. For "SAKU" and "HIDARY," we departed from the tradition of symmetrical spoon bowls, designing a three-dimensional asymmetry that leans left or right to effortlessly guide curry into the mouth.
This unconventional design challenged our seasoned craftsmen, accustomed to creating perfectly balanced spoons. Yet, with perseverance and innovation, we turned this daring idea into reality.
